Handing-over of the Decentralised Wastewater Treatment Plant in Lich Hoi Thuong B Primary school
Updated: Apr 2
The demonstration project in Soc Trang is intended to collect and treat the wastewater generated at Lich Hoi Thuong Market and the Lich Hoi Thuong B Primary school in Tran De District (40 km away from Soc Trang City). The location is not connected to a centralised WWTP and no plans for future connection exist. The DWWT plant will be located in the backyard of the Lich Hoi Thuong B Primary school.

The DWWTP was supposed to demonstrate small-scale wastewater treatment at low cost and with high efficiency. Moreover, the plant was supposed to gain experience on the use and production of bamboo biomass for the capture of CO2.

Our operations were outstandingly successful. We have shown that a DWWTP
can be used for cleaning wastewater from a wet market and a school at very low operation costs,
is reliable and easy to operate,
can contribute to CO2 capture if combined with biomass production.

Unfortunately we have been informed that the treatment plant needs to be removed since the school plans to construct a new building on the site. We handed-over the treatment plant to local authorities as contractually agreed.
